Great little bottles: ingenious glass design for nail varnish

Great little bottles: ingenious glass design for nail varnish

International brand celebrities dazzle with individual glamour not only in the color pallet

Nail varnish is the high gloss of individual beauty care. With the claim of uniqueness across widely varied product lines its brands impose very special demands in terms of glass design. For the large market of small bottles the Gerresheimer Group has established a clear image as a strong development and production partner for the international cosmetics industry: at Luxe Pack Monaco it presents the latest collection of its immaculately styled varnish flacons inspiring highlights from an enormous spectrum of tailor-made shaping and high-caliber finishing (October 21 23, 2009, Halle Ravel, Booth RC 20).

It gleams in countless color variants, with special shimmer and glitter effects, in particularly caring, strengthening, hardening formulations: that little finishing touch of nail varnish. Since time immemorial it has been the example par excellence of decorative cosmetics this alone imposes its own demands in terms of the get-up for the product, which should masterfully present its brand and also itself with the widest possible variety of nuances.

Of course quality stands out in this field through more than the glamour of the latest color pallet. ”Extravagant and clearly brand-typical glass design are characterized here by a highly nuanced packaging spectrum, and the many possibilities are far from exhausted,” says Burkhard Lingenberg, Director of Marketing and Communication for the Gerresheimer Group; in wide areas of the market, he adds, this development is just in its infancy. Standard bottles are not even offered by Gerresheimer for nail varnish, he stresses: ”By its very nature this is quintessentially a designer segment. Our work here is exclusively customer specific with individual shapes and design concepts.” Evidently with great success: leading manufacturers such as L'Oréal, Coty, Beiersdorf and Alessandro rank among the demanding clients in the field of nail varnish.

Within Europe, Gerresheimer produces the little bottles both in Momignies in Belgium and Tettau in Southern Germany. These well-known plants are characterized not only by the highest level of special competence but also by the full technology range for cosmetics, including highly expert mould construction and for example satin frosting of the surface. Naturally also direct printing and decoration of the glass: finishes which in a wide variety of new techniques and variants are becoming more and more popular for nail varnish as well.

Another very different technical option is likely to be of interest to visitors in this area. Nail varnish bottles are also produced by Gerresheimer using the so-called double or triple drop process. This means increased economy, which makes the great little bottles even more attractive than they already undoubtedly were.
