Pilot plant

The pilot plant is operated by Gerresheimer's Medical Plastic Systems Division and affiliated to the TCC. It is our application-oriented competence center with a focus on plastics injection molding. At the pilot plant, molds and automation solutions are subjected to comprehensive application and processing tests under near-series conditions and prepared for large-scale production.

Mold trials and optimization processes are basic elements of the entire part verification process. Among the important stages of this process are the definition of stable parameter settings for the injection molding process and complete part measurement. The statistic design of experiments (DOE) method facilitates the deduction and verification of stable parameters from the part geometries of different trial stages. The verification of machine and process capabilities and the execution of mold trials during pre-determined periods constitute the final part of the project's pilot plant stage before its industrialization at the production site.
