The Plant Purchasing Manager is responsible for taking a hands-on approach in managing all local procurement indirect activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of indirect materials such as Capex, MRO, Services,
This role involves sourcing, supplier relationship management, tactical purchasing, and cross-functional collaboration to support production and operational goals.
About the job
- Lead Plant purchasing activities (Capex, Services, MRO, …) including negotiation, supplier selection, and supplier development in alignment with Global Procurement
- Monitoring/Executing capital procurement activities for critical spares and new equipment to ensure continuity of site manufacturing operations
- Identifying and implementing bundling opportunities and establishing the necessary network with the local purchasing managers of other Gerresheimer locations
- Negotiate local contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, delivery, and stocking agreements to meet production and inventory schedules.
- Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements and company policies. Monitor and manage contract renewals and terminations
- Ensure compliance with global company policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
- Perform day-to-day operational activities including: establishment of purchase orders and outline agreements, expediting of deliveries, resolution of invoice discrepancies/complaints and non-conformance
- Leading and developing site Procurement personnel (currently 2 team members); execute employee development and coaching processes; as applicable
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business-related, engineering, or technical discipline
- 5-7 years of experience in Purchasing
- Indirect Procurement Experience (Capex, Buildings/Construction, etc.) required
