Wackersdorf, July 17, 2014. Manfred Baumann, COO/CTO Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH, and Professor Erich Bauer have signed a partnership agreement designating Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH as one of the OTH Amberg-Weiden’s Innovative Learning Locations.

Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH and the local universities in Amberg and Weiden have a long and successful collaboration track record, having implemented many successful projects together over the years.

On July 10, the company’s COO/CTO Manfred Baumann and Professor Erich Bauer, President of the OTH Amberg-Weiden, signed a partnership agreement making Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH one of the OTH Amberg-Weiden’s Innovative Learning Locations. A glass plaque was presented to Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH by the university to document their new close partnership and Manfred Baumann is a member of the OTH Amberg-Weiden’s Board of Directors.

“The goal of the partnership is to provide the OTH Amberg-Weiden, its students, professors and lecturers with an innovative learning location which allows students to gain practical insights into the company’s operations. The innovative learning location is a place where students and the OTH Amberg-Weiden’s professors and lecturers can engage in technical dialog and projects with the company’s employees,” said Manfred Baumann, outlining the cooperation.

“The OTH Amberg-Weiden hopes that the initiative will allow it to extend its presence in the university region,” explained Professor Erich Bauer. “We are located in a 'learning region’ and this initiative offers creative, cooperative and networked vocational education outside the university campus.”

It’s a win-win situation for both sides. Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH offers OTH Amberg-Weiden students work experience, subjects for their Bachelor and Master theses, guided tours of the plant and many other things. The Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH employees are informed about the OTH Amberg-Weiden’s course program and the initiative will also include courses for them.
