Düsseldorf, March 23, 2017. April 27, 2017 is Girls’ Day, when schoolgirls from across Germany can visit numerous companies to learn about various engineering careers. Gerresheimer’s Bünde, Essen, Lohr, Tettau, Wackersdorf, and Wertheim sites will all be taking part.

”Gerresheimer has many young women training in professions that require a degree of technical understanding and they are just as passionate about it as their male peers,” says Thomas Perlitz, Global Senior Vice President Human Resources. And the world of work will see something of a transformation over the next few years, particularly in the manufacturing industry, he adds – production processes will become increasingly automated and digitized, requiring less physical effort. More and more strenuous tasks will be done by machines and robots, he believes, giving women even greater opportunities to pursue a career in manufacturing or engineering in future. According to Thomas Perlitz, this means Gerresheimer will be looking to focus more on the significant potential that schoolgirls and female university graduates offer.

Anyone gaining a vocational qualification at Gerresheimer has a good chance of Gerresheimer at Girls’ Day – on a mission to inspire young women to pursue a career in engineeringfinding employment there after passing their exams because the company trains up the people it needs itself. The same applies to applicants keen to follow a dual curriculum. Earlier this year, Gerresheimer launched GxGo!, a trainee program for young professionals targeted at university graduates.
