Gerresheimer Essen: the very first day at work

Düsseldorf/ Essen, August 17, 2012 – Gerresheimer Essen welcomed its new intake of apprentices, David Schieffer, Nico Derksen, Karsten Noworzyn, Serkan Sevim and Maurice Temming on August 1.

The apprentices started out their first day of work at Gerresheimer with a meeting where they were briefed on all the things they need to know right from day one so that they can get through their first days and weeks without any hitches.

Werner Masek is Training Coordinator. He and Annegret Knuth are the main contacts for the apprentices. Werner is also the person providing training to the glass process engineer apprentices.

“We always offer our apprentices full time positions The new apprentices were briefed by Werner Masek (center) on their first day at Gerresheimer.after their apprenticeships,” said Annegret Knuth, HR Director at Gerresheimer Essen GmbH, because replenishing the workforce with competent young individuals from our own ranks makes a key contribution to the Gerresheimer Group’s sustainable development.

While the new apprentices are busy getting used to working life, two of their colleagues in Essen have completed their apprenticeships as process engineers: Stefan Scholten and Waldemar Seel. Stefan Scholten summarized his experience: “I worked in all the blue collar departments during my apprenticeship. I got on very well with my colleagues in each of the departments and they always supported me no matter what. I was optimally prepared for my final examination because everyone so generously shared their knowledge with me.“

Moulded glass production apprentices at Gerresheimer in Essen  all gain insights into their future workplace as work experience students. Annegret Knuth is an expert at motivating Gerresheimer’s young apprentices and she supports them throughout their apprenticeship. The experienced HR manager is able to proudly look back on the careers of colleagues whom she employed as apprenticeships and who learned their professions from scratch. Some of them are now working at Gerresheimer’s plants in the USA and China, and others will probably soon be working at the company’s new plant in India.
