Gerresheimer offers permanent positions to all ex-apprentices

Düsseldorf, November 30, 2012 - This year, all German training plants have again offered almost 100 percent of their apprentices full time positions, providing them with direct access to a career. Gerresheimer Wertheim is the latest plant to become part of the apprenticeship network.

Gerresheimer Germany currently has around 180 young apprentices. Some 50 of them completed their training program this year and began work in their first job. “Here at Gerresheimer we are committed to training our apprentices for a job in our own company,“ said Thomas Perlitz, HR Director at Gerresheimer in Düsseldorf, adding that Gerresheimer is receiving an increasing number of applications for dual apprenticeship and degree programs.

Gerresheimer Wertheim is now a training site

Wertheim is Gerresheimer’s latest training site. It manufactures ampoules from tubular glass for the pharmaceutical industry. The first apprentice has just started training to be a mechatronics fitter. Lothar Haaf, plant manager of the Wertheim plant, is also looking for a second apprentice and sees no reason why women shouldn’t consider the occupation of mechatronics fitter.

20 apprenticeships at 6 German sites

The plants in Essen, Lohr, Pfreimd, Tettau, Wackersdorf and Wertheim provide apprenticeships in over 20 occupations. The spectrum extends from Industrial Business Management Assistant to sandwich degree courses leading to a BEng in mechatronics.

Promotion and support

Gerresheimer is very committed to training young employees. The apprenticeship programs always focus on the development aspect. They include practical training from experienced colleagues plus the acquisition of technical and commercial background knowledge at vocational school or at university if the apprenticeship is combined with a degree program. The Gerresheimer apprenticeship programs are mainly run at our German sites, but we do offer some in other countries.

Felix Hart, 2nd year IT specialist apprentice, and Katrin Eichinger, 2nd year mechatronics fitter apprentice, are just two of the many apprentices at the Gerresheimer Medical Plastic Systems plants in Pfreimd and Wackersdorf.
