Gerresheimer Tettau welcomes its new trainees

Düsseldorf/Tettau, September 15, 2020: On September 1, ten apprentices and four students on the dual system were given the go-ahead to start their careers. One of them is Tim Schikora. The camera team of a TV station accompanied Tim and his trainer Michael Wich for a whole shift to present the job description of a process mechanic for glass technology.

"The work on the machines and the technology behind them fascinate me," says Tim Schikora. As a process mechanic and future engineer, he will learn during his training how machines and production plants are constructed and function. One focus of his training is the conversion and re-equipping of production facilities. In a team with experienced employees and other trainees, the main goal is a fast and smooth conversion so that the production meets the high quality requirements.

In his first week of training in September, Tim Schikora made his first major appearance: the camera team of a television station accompanied him together with his trainer, the master craftsman Michael Wich, through the working day of a process mechanic for glass technology. To learn this demanding profession successfully as part of a dual course of study with integrated training at Gerresheimer in Tettau, Tim moved specially from his home in the Rhineland to Upper Franconia.

"For the production of glass you need a lot of team spirit and personal commitment. Our apprentices are immediately involved. Experienced employees take the newcomers under their wings and ensure that they quickly get to grips with the factory and the machines so that they can take on tasks very soon and comply with the necessary safety regulations," says Sandra Kucharek. She has been the first contact for all trainees in the human resources department for over thirty years.

The Gerresheimer plant looks back on a 235-year corporate history and within the Gerresheimer Group as a modern center of excellence specialises in the sustainable production of bottles, flacons and jars of cosmetic glass for well-known brand companies.

Gerresheimer Tettau is now also accepting applications for the 2021 training year.
