Over 2500 trainees in 13 years

Successful promotion of young talent at Gerresheimer

Düsseldorf, June 4, 2020 Since the IPO of Gerresheimer AG in 2007, the Gerresheimer Group has trained more than 2,500 young people in over 20 professions in Germany. The strength of Gerresheimer's production plants lies in training young people from its own ranks and turning them into skilled workers who will remain with the Company for a long time. Since 2010 the dual study program for the promotion of young talent at Gerresheimer has also been part of this. And since 2017 the Gx Go! trainee program has been available for graduates.

"We provide training because we need employees who know the company inside out and are also well networked in the Gerresheimer Group," says Alexander Eckert, Global Senior Vice President Human Resources at Gerresheimer. In Germany the company provides training at a total of five locations. Some plants in Europe and America have adopted the model in order to be able to recruit urgently needed specialists from within their own ranks. Through their work they contribute to ensuring that for example the high-quality primary packaging for the pharma and cosmetics industry is produced and delivered in the quality required by the customers. This also applies to the medical technology delivery systems which Gerresheimer develops and manufactures for well-known pharma customers.

Gerresheimer's strong point is training in the so-called MINT professions.

Gerresheimer's strong point is training in the so-called MINT professions. MINT is an abbreviation for subjects taught and studied as well as occupations in the fields of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology. For this Gerresheimer has recently received another award. Most Gerresheimer locations also take part in Girls' Day in order to get schoolgirls excited at an early age about learning a profession which is traditionally learned and practised by men, for example process mechanic or industrial electronics technician.

Often the company's trainees are among the best in their training at the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in their region and the entire plant is proud of its highly productive junior staff. Last year, for example, two apprentices of Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH in Wackersdorf were awarded the GKV Förderpreis by the Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie e.V. (GKV).

This year for the first time the new Gerresheimer plant in Skopje is looking for apprentices in Northern Macedonia who would like to complete practice-oriented vocational training based on the German model. The plant in Horsovsky Tyn in the Czech Republic, where industrial mechanics have been successfully trained since 2012, has been the inspiration for this offer.

Gerresheimer ranks among Germany's top national employers.

Gerresheimer ranks among Germany's top national employers. This award is presented every year by the magazine Focus on the basis of an extensive survey of employees in Germany. In Germany over 3,600 people work for Gerresheimer and have an average length of service of 12.5 years. From Kununu, the employer evaluation portal, Gerresheimer was awarded the title of Open Company.
