Two ‘Gerresheimers’ are the best

Düsseldorf/Lohr, November 20, 2012 – The Würzburg-Schweinfurt Mainfranken Chamber of Industry and Commerce paid tribute to apprentices in its region with the best examination results on October 18. Tobias Herrmann not only achieved the highest result in the chamber’s examination, he also gained the best result among all glass process engineer apprentices in Bavaria. His colleague Alexander Podak came second with special merit from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for his excellent examination result. At the same time, Training Manager Cristian Cassarino was presented with a certificate for special services to apprenticeship training at Gerresheimer Lohr GmbH.

“Our training objective is to effectively communicate all of our knowledge so that Gerresheimer can continue to meet its customers’ high quality requirements in the future. That’s our strength and it’s safeguarding our future here in Lohr,” said Andreas Kohl, General Manager of Gerresheimer Lohr. 

“I knew that the Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s best apprentice has been from Gerresheimer five years running. It gave me the incentive to try for a prize myself. So you can imaging how delighted I was when I found out I was also “Best in Bavaria“, said Tobias Herrmann. “My next goal is a degree in mechanical engineering. Then I’d like to come back and work at Gerresheimer again.”

Alexander Podak said that he’d enjoyed the apprenticeship. He said that the trainers had supported him and that the prep courses had helped him to optimally prepare for his exam. Podak appreciates the family like atmosphere at Gerresheimer and he’s now a hot-end shift employee. He’s planning to obtain a further qualification in the future.

The glass process engineer‘s job is to monitor and control the glass product production process. He has to ensure that technical parameters are met and make the necessary corrections when inadmissible deviations occur. In the quality assurance process, process engineers have to check interim and final products and they are also responsible for ensuring that production resources and equipment function properly, as well as for plant and equipment set-up and retooling.

Gerresheimer Lohr offers a range of career options for interested young individuals such as degree sandwich courses and various science and engineering apprenticeship programs. The comprehensive range of available industrial apprenticeships includes toolmaker, industrial engineering electronics technician and glass process engineer.
