Production Supervisor

Job Description

  • Directly supervise production personnel in a shift and manage the shift, following standardized work schedules - leading daily team meetings, tracking hourly production data, correcting and maintaining production based on data.
  • Perform trouble shooting of molding processes and secondary operations and equipment.
  • Assists operators and technicians in repairing and updating production equipment and making recommendations for improvement of processes.
  • Utilizes sound processing and molding knowledge in setting and maintaining process operating parameters of molds and related support equipment. Ensure adherence to manufacturing requirements.
  • Directs operators and technicians in setting and maintaining optimum molding parameters to achieve production volume goals at the highest quality level with the lowest cost.
  • Human Resources management including but not limited to, training, evaluating departmental personnel, time and attendance management, and all personnel related disciplinary and performance issues. Assisting in hiring and recruitment of employees
  • Ensure safety adherence, champion safety improvement activities, etc.
  • Tracks, charts and makes corrections based on data related to productivity, quality, safety, cost, etc.
  • Involved in ISO related activities, safety audits, Kaizen events, etc.
  • Maintain, train and handle daily activities related to 5S, 20 keys program and GMS.
  • Evaluates production schedule, plans machine loading and executes schedules to support Production requirements.  Maintains manpower requirements to support schedule.
  • Ensure that established policies, procedures, rules and regulations are followed.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
  • Evaluates process improvements and implements changes to equipment or methods to improve production efficiency.
  • Reviews daily production reporting and verifies the accuracy of same.
  • Inform Head of Production Unit of situations that may pose a significant risk to the product, facilities and employee safety or customer satisfaction.
  • Identify developmental training needs and establishes work plans with employees based on new processes, equipment and materials.
  • Monitor and update tooling and process sheets.
  • Report all technical and tooling issues to Production Manager  

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.(Required)
  • B.S. in plastics engineering, polymer engineering, electrical, chemical, manufacturing or industrial engineering or 4 years of related experience in plastics injection molding processing.
  • Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction to multiple employees.
  • Manage production processes to maximize quality, safety, production outputs and uptime.
  • Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations
  • Experience in problem solving through an analytical process including trouble shooting of processes and process equipment.
  • Experience in analysis of manufacturing processes, development of process improvements and validation of process changes. 
  • Experience working in a fast paced operational environment with constant interaction with operators, technicians and equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean manufacturing and 5S
  • Experience in leading a team to work in a progressively improving team environment
  • Experience working in MS Suite products esp. Microsoft Excel
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in various functions
