Job Description

As a highly skilled embedded software test engineer, you are part of the embedded software team

  • You are supporting an experienced team in the verification of safety critical software for real-time embedded systems in the context of a regulated medical device development process (ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
    • Development of manual and automated test cases
    • Creation, implementation and documentation of verification tests for embedded software
    • Analysis of requirements based on given quality characteristics and risks for deriving test cases
    • Conception and establish software test plan, test specifications, test procedures and test cases
    • Ensure adequate test coverage
    • Execute tests for software Formal verification
  • Performing regression testing and reviewing new functionality while ensuring full traceability of testing activities
  • Planning, execution and documentation of exploratory software test sessions on newly implemented functionalities
  • Design, review and maintain efficient and effective software test cases to use an adequate set of understandable test cases for further test rounds and test automation
  • Participation in the development and expansion of an in-house infrastructure for the automated testing of embedded software
  • Part of an Agile interdisciplinary project team – System Engineering, Electronics, Mechanics, Embedded software, Application software
  • Ensure highest quality standards during the entire product life cycle in the context of a regulated medical device development process


  • University degree Engineering FH / Uni / ETH or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in testing embedded software in C / C ++
  • Experience with small and low-power embedded devices
  • Knowledge in performing tests/automated tests (unit tests, integration tests, acceptance tests and system tests) and continuous integration
  • Further training in software testing (e.g. ISTQB Certified Software Tester) is an asset
  • Experience with automated test environments for embedded software or devices is an asset
  • Good knowledge of Python (for test automation) is an asset
  • Experience in wireless technology (BLE) and medical device connectivity is an advantage
  • Experience in connected device cybersecurity is an advantage
  • Experience in writing Unit Tests for Embedded C, previous work with Vector Cast is an asset
  • Experience with NI Test Stand is an asset
  • Self-organized, solution-oriented, communicative team player with initiative
  • Very good oral and written language skills in English, German is an advantage
