Logistics Coordinator

Job Description

Reports to the Logistics Manager and is responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products to meet Plant objectives and customer requirements.  This involves the ownership of Purchasing, Production Control, Inventory Control, Shipping and Receiving, , and Materials as designated (packaging, tubing, finished goods, etc). 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Maintains optimum inventory levels as directed to ensure on time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.

·         Assisting in establishing procedures and involvement in the annual physical inventory.  This includes the taking and valuing of the year-end physical inventory.

·         Responsible for tasks as designated for the the proper year-end phase-out programs and initiating and processing the resulting obsolete and termination of inventory.

·         Makes certain that deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly followed up as it relates to procurement of materials.

·         Involved in the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment and services for the operation of the Company, in addition to designated inventory items.  Confers with requesting parties when specific sources are requested.  Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages.

·         Assists in establishing and maintaining purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with vendors.  Keeps informed on legal matters that affect purchasing policies.

·         Assist in continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity and delivery for this plant.

·         Keeps abreast of materials and packaging markets and pricing trends that affect Company products.

·         Assists in developing, establishing, and providing for the maintenance of reporting systems that relate to the materials function.

·         Support ensurance that the Plant standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all Materials Department functions.

·         Assists in GMS Material Systems initiatives.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Business or Management related field or equivalent 2 to 5 years’ experience in Purchasing, Production, and/or Inventory Control.
  • At least 1 years experience in a computer-oriented environment.
  • At least 1 years experience in working with SAP

 

FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow established technical and administrative procedures.
  • Strong computer skills.
