Andreas Sperl receives the 2011 advancement award of the general association of the German plastics processing industry

For more than one decade, the Gesamtverband der Kunststoffverarbeitenden Industrie (general association of the German plastics processing industry) has been presenting its advancement award for excellent performance to the top ten process technicians for polymer and rubber engineering in Germany. As before, one of this year’s winners is an apprentice with Gerresheimer Regensburg: Andreas Sperl received 96 points.

The winners received their certificate and a check for EUR 350 on 6 July, 2011 at the Technical Competence Center of Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH at Wackersdorf. Olaf Zander (Director Human Resources, Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH, Regensburg) and Thomas Merkel (Acting director of studies and headmaster at Hof vocational school) also received a certificate from Ralf Olsen (Managing Director of pro-K Industrieverbandes Halbzeuge und Konsumprodukte aus Kunststoff e.V. (German industrial association for plastic semi-finished and consumer products), a GKV member who is responsible for industrial training and education policy).

Olaf Zander extended his congratulations to the successful process engineer. “With their highly skilled and committed staff members, our training center at the Technical Competence Center Wackersdorf is a hotbed of budding top specialists. For the fifth time in succession, a member of Gerresheimer’s team of apprentices is among the winners.”

Process technicians for polymer and rubber engineering learn a profession with excellent perspectives for the future. They know how to operate automated and computerized machinery and equipment producing a variety of plastic products. During their apprenticeship, the young engineers acquire basic metal processing skills and train their ability for reading and drafting engineering detail drawings. They learn all there is to know about mold engineering and technology as well as the materials used to manufacture them. Apprentices are introduced to polymer chemistry and acquire a basic knowledge of the mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics andelectrics of machinery.
