Marcus Germerodt, a Gerresheimer apprentice, received North Rhine-Westphalia’s Best Apprentice 2011 award

The Central Chamber of Industry...

Düsseldorf, November 11, 2011 - The Central Ruhr Chamber of Industry and Commerce honors the apprentices with the highest examination scores each year according to the motto of “WE’VE GOT ‘EM” One of these is Marcus Germerodt, who now works at Gerresheimer AG in Essen as Technical Product Designer.

The new apprenticeship occupation of Technical Product Designer (TPD) was introduced in 2005. Gerresheimer Essen GmbH was one of the first training companies in Germany to offer apprenticeships for Technical Product Designers. Even before he applied for an apprentice position, Marcus Germerodt knew exactly what the occupation of TPD involved. “It was an occupation that really interested me, so I applied to companies all over Germany for an apprenticeship.”

Marcus Germerodt had to leave his home in Thuringia and move to Essen so that he could train for his chosen occupation. “I love the city and the people here are all very fun-loving and warm-hearted. I’ve made a lot of friends in the area and I feel very much at home here,“ said Marcus Germerodt. Despite its size, the city has a comprehensive range of leisure facilities and a lively entertainment scene, plus all kinds of quiet places to relax. Marcus Germerodt enjoys living in Essen and has decided to spend the next few years here.

Marcus believes that one of the reasons why he did so well in his apprenticeship is the positive climate at the company and his supportive colleagues. “My colleagues in all the departments gave me a lot of support throughout the apprenticeship and they definitely helped me to achieve such good scores in my exams,“ he emphasized.
