"Don’t dream your life, live your dream."

I practically inherited my love of glass production, which is why I decided to do an apprenticeship as industrial business management assistant at Gerresheimer Essen. When the two-and-a-half-year apprenticeship was over, the company offered me a position in the Purchasing Department. I was responsible for operational business there and I always enjoyed the very interesting work with the technical staff. It meant that I didn’t just sit at a desk all day, but also visited the production bays to look at machines and equipment.
While I was a member of the purchasing team I obtained an additional quality management and supplier auditor qualification so that I could audit supplier compliance with company guidelines. Two years ago I decided to take a part-time bachelor degree course while I continued working at the company as Strategic Purchaser. I‘m also involved in the company-wide procurement process. It can be quite challenging at times because a lot of our plants are overseas.
I have a great working relationship with my international colleagues, many of whom I have met on business trips. Participating in our annual soccer tournament and corporate runs is also a brilliant way of meeting colleagues in person.
Gerresheimer is a loyal and interesting employer and I’m glad to be on the team.
