Duesseldorf, May 28, 2021. Gerresheimer has been recognized by the "Fair Company" initiative as a fair and attractive employer. In close cooperation, the German daily newspaper Handelsblatt and the prestigious Institute for Employment and Employability (IBE) have been awarding their seal of quality since 2020 to employers who are particularly committed to fairness in the working environment when starting a career. Adapted to the current labor market and the values of today's career starters plus young professionals, Gerresheimer was positively assessed on the basis of a wide range of criteria and certified as a Fair Company.

Criteria such as work organization, cooperation and leadership, corporate culture and values, commitment to employees, diversity and equal opportunities, fair conduct in the market, social responsibility and sustainability are becoming increasingly important in the search for a new employer for generations Y and Z. For this reason, they have formed the assessment basis of the Fair Company Initiative since 2020. A positive audit result and subsequent certification of employers by the IBE is the prerequisite for a membership in the Fair Company Initiative.

Corporate values, social commitment and sustainability

"Generally speaking, I get myself informed about a company's values, its culture and its social responsibility before applying. Since Gerresheimer has a pronounced goal orientation and sustainability strategy, I was straightaway convinced by the employer. It became immediately clear to me how ambitious the company is and I therefore wanted to be a part of it," emphasizes the working student Giuliano Ditel. He has been supporting the sustainability team at the headquarter in Duesseldorf since the beginning of April. For the master’s student, Gerresheimer provides a complete picture of the Fair Company criteria assessed. Both, in his daily teamwork, where he experiences a lot of appreciation and can actively contribute, and with having a view to the company as a whole. The 25-year-old mechanical engineering graduate Felicitas Wagner, who works as a trainee in production, also feels at ease at Gerresheimer as an employer that "takes up the cause of fair and sustainable action".

Corporate culture, cooperation and leadership

Collaboration and leadership as well as the corporate culture at Gerresheimer, on the other hand, are the criteria that move Junior Risk Manager David Stadelmann the most. The medical technology graduate finds above all that strong collaboration is central at Gerresheimer. "People meet each other with a laugh - that is recognizable despite the mask. Concerns and problems are taken seriously and you can have a say in important decisions." Gerresheimer offers its young talents a wide range of opportunities to develop and contribute to the company. Cross-departmental cooperation within international teams automatically results in a demanding working environment that offers many challenges and great opportunities.

In his view, cooperation, a harmonious team and good leadership form the essential basis for outstanding performance, says Alexander Suehling. Together with Felicitas Wagner, the industrial engineer is stationed as a trainee in the glass production facility in Essen and appreciates the cooperative work organization between the various departments at Gerresheimer. For the young professional, corporate culture generally plays a key role in evaluating an employer: "The culture in the company is the cornerstone of success or failure - in my opinion."

Equal opportunities

Gerresheimer is also perceived as a culturally appealing company by the current sales trainee and student Yelda Kaya. She became aware of Gerresheimer while still being at school through the Future Day, in which the packaging manufacturer has taken part for many years. First and foremost, the junior employee appreciates the equal opportunities: "I am often the only woman in meetings and work mainly with male people - but neither in my team nor in cooperation with others have I felt discriminated against or treated unequally - rather the opposite," reports Yelda Kaya.

This all-round appreciative image and the fact that equal opportunities are part of everyday life at Gerresheimer also stand out quite clearly for Felicitas Wagner: "In our production there are some women who do classic male jobs. And for me, too, I always notice in a positive way that I am treated in exactly the same manner as my colleagues by all the craftsmen, for example. In general, I find the cooperation among each other and the management behavior at Gerresheimer very pleasant and cooperative."
