Düsseldorf/Paris, January 16, 2019. For the first time, Gerresheimer will be showcasing solutions for digital and electronic drug delivery products with micro rotary piston pumps from Sensile Medical at booth A94 at Pharmapack, Paris (Porte de Versailles), on February 6 and 7. Along with product innovations in the form of Gx InnoSafe, Gx ClearJect, and Gx Elite vials, the company will also present its safe and convenient packaging solutions for the administration of medication at booth B62.
Sensile Medical: digital and electronic drug delivery products with micro rotary piston pumps
Last year's acquisition of Sensile Medical AG allowed Gerresheimer to expand their business model and become an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for drug delivery platforms with digital and electronic capabilities. The company developed a new kind of patented micro pump, which is the key component of all product platforms. SenseCore is small and very precise in dosage. Consisting of only two plastic parts, it can be produced at a low cost. Thanks to its high degree of flexibility, it is compatible with a variety of drugs.
Sensile Medical is already working very successfully on projects for diabetics and in other treatment areas such as Parkinson’s disease. Sensile Medical was granted the EC certificate for the wearable micro pump they designed specifically for the treatment of Parkinson's. A European pharmaceutical company has obtained the CE declaration. This makes the product the first micro pump by Gerresheimer’s subsidiary Sensile Medical that will be used commercially.
Gx RTF ClearJect: Gerresheimer is producing COP syringes in Germany
Gerresheimer is to unveil its newly developed Gx RTF ClearJect brand: a COP syringe with cannula. The prefillable syringes are made at the German site in Pfreimd from the high-performance plastic COP (cyclo-olefin-polymer) and are ideally suited to demanding, sensitive medications and high-viscosity active ingredients.

With their exposed cannulas, used syringes are a source of risk at physicians’ surgeries, laboratories, and hospitals the world over. With the Gx InnoSafe, Gerresheimer is now offering a syringe with an integrated passive safety system that prevents unintentional needlestick injuries.

Gerresheimer is expanding its range of services to include surface finishing of plastic packaging for ophthalmology and rhinology products with irradiation. As part of this move, the company is drawing on partnerships with selected certified partners.

The Gx Elite Vials have set new standards for type I vials made from borosilicate glass. They are the result of comprehensive optimization of the conversion process, removing all risks that can lead to product defects during manufacturing. Above all else, it prevents any glass-to-glass or glass-to-metal contact from when the tubular glass is made right through to the final packaging of the vials.
