Parenteral Glass Packaging Solutions
Glass - The No. 1 choice for parenteral drugs
When it comes to safeguarding injectable drugs, there is no room for compromise. Our moulded glass parenteral solutions are the gold standard in primary packaging, engineered to provide unparalleled chemical stability, mechanical strength, and product integrity. Designed for the most demanding pharmaceutical applications, these solutions ensure the safety and efficacy of your sensitive formulations, from R&D to final administration.
Why choosing moulded glass for parenteral drug packaging

Parenteral solutions - which are administered by injection or infusion - require a very high standard of packaging to ensure the sterility, stability, and safety of the drug. Glass is the most widely used material for this purpose due to its inertness, barrier properties, and thermal resistance. For light-sensitive drugs, our amber-colored moulded glass containers provide critical UV protection, ensuring the drug’s stability and potency throughout its shelf life. We also offer internal surface treatments, such as siliconization. Siliconization minimizes the interactions between the drug and the container. It provides enhanced hydrophobic properties, ensuring a high restitution rate down to the last drop of the product.
Unique and broad range of products

Moulded Glass Injection Vials
Our moulded glass injection vials are used for high-volume or multi-dose injectables (e.g. intramuscular or subcutaneous multi-dose drugs). Our broad range of moulded glass vials are available in glass type 1 and type 2, as well as with siliconization treatment on request.

Moulded Glass Infusion Bottles
Our moulded glass infusion bottles are used for largevolume parenteral (LVP) solutions (e.g. IV saline, glucose infusions, blood derivates and contrast media). The moulded glass infustion bottles are available in glass type 1 and type 2, as well as with siliconization treatment on request.

Bormioli Pharma Parenteral Portfolio
The right parenteral packaging for every purpose
Moulded glass vials, particularly those made from Type I borosilicate glass, are a crucial parenteral drug packaging solution for the pharmaceutical industry due to their superior chemical resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical strength. We offer parenteral drug glass packaging solutions in glass types I, II and III in flint and amber.
Moulded glass parenteral vials and infusion bottles are commonly used for injectable antibiotics, oncology drugs, largevolume parenteral (LVP) solutions, infusions, vaccines, contrast media or veterinary injectables.
Type I (Borosilicate Glass): It is highly resistant to chemical attack, has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, and can withstand high temperatures and thermal shock due to its low thermal expansion coefficient. It is used for the most sensitive and high-value drugs, including biologics, vaccines, and blood components.
Type II (Inner Surface Treated Soda-Lime Glass): The surface treatment dealkalizes the glass, increasing its hydrolytic resistance. It is used for drugs where chemical resistance and cost efficiency are crucial.
Type III (Soda-Lime Glass): It has only moderate hydrolytic resistance. It is primarily used for non-aqueous parenteral preparations (e.g., powders for injection that are reconstituted at the time of use).
