Gerresheimer offers apprenticeships at eight German sites

Düsseldorf,  July 6th, 2013 - The plants in Bünde, Essen, Lohr, Pfreimd, Regensburg, Tettau, Wackersdorf and Wertheim provide apprenticeships in over 20 occupations. The spectrum extends from Industrial Business Management Assistant to sandwich degree courses leading to a Beng in mechatronics.

“We want our apprentices to enjoy their apprenticeship at Gerresheimer because we believe that providing training to young people is an investment in our company’s future,” said Thomas Perlitz, Personnel Director at Gerresheimer in Düsseldorf. The company’s apprenticeship programs are designed to cover its own requirements and the apprentices are offered full-time positions when they have passed their examinations. Gerresheimer currently has around 180 apprentices at eight training establishments in Germany. Around 50 of them will complete their apprenticeships and start out on their careers this year.

Gerresheimer Regensburg – the plastics experts

The Plastic Systems Division has more than 3400 employees and is the Gerresheimer Group’s largest division. High quality plastic products such as inhalers or insulin pens are manufactured at the German production facilities in Regensburg, Pfreimd and Wackersdorf. There are currently 63 apprentices and 11 sandwich degree students there. In September 2013 they will be joined by another 33 apprentices and four sandwich degree students.

Gerresheimer Bünde - the syringe specialists

Some 800 staff manufacture glass syringes for the pharmaceutical industry at the German production facility in Bünde. The syringes are used for applications such as heparin injections or influenza vaccinations. Bünde currently has 11 apprentices and one student. In August, there will be 6 new apprentices and one further student. They all visited Gerresheimer Bünde  GmbH back in July to meet their new colleagues. Now they know what to expect on their first day at work and can look forward to it without any worries.

Gerresheimer Essen, Lohr and Tettau – traditional moulded glass competence

All of Gerresheimer’s German moulded glass production facilities are tradition-steeped establishments. The Essen facility in the Ruhr region, the Lohr facility on the river Main and the Tettau facility in Upper Franconia have 1000 employees and manufacture over 2 billion moulded glass products every year. Their customers include reputed German and international companies in the pharmaceuticals, food and cosmetics industries. Most of the three sites’ 54 apprentices are training for technical occupations in the glass manufacturing industry. 29 new apprentices will be joining them in September.

Wertheim – ampoules

Wertheim is a southern-German business center and the largest manufacturing location in the Heilbronn-Franken region. Gerresheimer Wertheim manufactures ampoules for liquid medications and high quality cosmetics from tubular glass. Gerresheimer Wertheim will have 2 mechatronics apprentices in its first apprenticeship program this year and more will be joining them in coming years.

Promotion and support

Gerresheimer is very committed to training young employees. The apprenticeship programs always focus on the development aspect. They include practical training from experienced colleagues plus the acquisition of technical and commercial background knowledge at vocational school or at university if the apprenticeship is combined with a degree program. Most apprenticeships are available at Gerresheimer’s establishments in Germany.
