Information about training opportunities at Gerresheimer

Düsseldorf/Bünde, January 29, 2013 - What does a warehouse logistics management assistant do at a plant that makes glass syringes? Gerresheimer's training experts will be at the Apprenticeship Fair in Bünde's Stadtgarten on February 1 to answer this and many other questions.

Gerresheimer Bünde has over 800 employees and is part of the international Gerresheimer Group. In the plant's production bays, glass tubing is processed into syringes which are filled with medications like insulin and vaccines - the flu vaccine, for instance.

Bünde currently has 17 apprentices on site training for the future occupations of industrial business management assistant, warehouse logistics management assistant, industrial engineering electronics technician and industrial mechanic.

"We expect our employees and apprentices to be committed team players who are open-minded and approachable. Like most training companies, we look for good school grades in our potential apprentices' applications. Work experience is a good way for young people to find out whether an apprenticeship suits them. We like applicants to include any work experience that they have done in their application," said Simone Sczepanek, HR Officer at Gerresheimer, who also looks for well-structured and tidy application folders and cover letters without any grammar mistakes. There are never enough apprenticeships for all the applicants and this year is particularly difficult because a change to the German high school system means that the number of young people graduating will be twice as high as normal.

Many school leavers aren't sure which career is right for them.
Sometimes it's a good idea to consider what you like doing and what you're good at.
Somebody who enjoys writing invoices for his or her father's company might like to consider an industrial business management assistant apprenticeship. Good maths and physics grades indicate that a person could make a good industrial engineering electronics technician or industrial mechanic.

"We trainers are always proud to see our former apprentices making progress and developing into adults." Simone Sczepanek has seen a lot of résumés with Gerresheimer as the starting point and is still in contact with many former apprentices, even though their careers have now taken them in other directions.
