Peter Vormwald of Gerresheimer Lohr achieved one of the best Chamber of Industry & Commerce examination results

The Chamber of Industry...

Düsseldorf/Lohr, April 10, 2012 - The Würzburg / Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry & Commerce honored the apprentices who achieved the best final examination results in 2011 last month. One of these was Peter Vormwald of Gerresheimer Lohr, who has just completed his apprenticeship as glass process engineer.

“I wanted to do well and I worked very hard to achieve this result,“ said Peter Vormwald, newly qualified glass process engineer, who was delighted to receive the Chamber of Industry & Commerce certificate.

The glass process engineer’s job is to monitor and control the glass product production process. Peter Vormwald chose this occupation after doing internet research on glass production and visiting the Gerresheimer plant with his school for a guided tour. He also chose Gerresheimer Lohr as his training company because it is close to Ruppertshütten where he lives.

“It’s important to ask questions if you don't understand something you're taught during the apprenticeship and to keep on asking them until you get it. My trainers at Gerresheimer always answered all my questions,“ said Peter Vormwald, who enjoys working in the plant’s family-like atmosphere. Now Peter wants to continue his education, so he has enrolled for a two year course in foundry technology management at the Zwiesel Glass School starting in September 2012.

Foundry technology managers liaise between the foremen and the engineers, performing management functions in batch and melting operations, hot forming, quality management and design, as well as sales and administration functions.
When he graduates, Peter Vormwald is planning on returning to Gerresheimer.

Peter sees the presentation ceremony at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as the first important step in a successful career.
