Plant Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager

Job Description

General Tasks

  • A key member and contributor to the Site Leadership Team.
  • Manages the performance and output of 3 direct reports (Purchasing Assistant, Customer Order Management and Production Planning) to drive change and develop, implement, optimise and/or continuously improve work processes, techniques and systems

Material Planning / Supply Chain

  • Work with suppliers to establish the appropriate delivery quantity and frequency for on-time delivery; coordinate with Customer Order Management and Warehouse team as needed, ultimately ensuring the right quantity at the right time to achieve production goals (no production line impact)
  • Daily management and problem-solving of supply and inventory plan variances, including unexpected demand, to ensure appropriate communication and actions with Sales, Production and Plant Management
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve supply chain challenges to meet and exceed our internal and external customers’ expectations
  • Develop strategic ordering cycles based on forecasts that meet business needs, providing cost savings, and adheres to lead times
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors to hold them accountable to a high degree of service
  • Generate and provide vendor forecasts on a regular basis to support production build plan, minimize freight costs, and optimize inventory levels.

Plant Purchasing

  • Executes bids, quotes and RFQ’s for competitive local sourced indirect products and services
  • Support Corporate Category Team with negotiations and RFQ's for local sourced direct materials
  • Direct and manage sourcing strategies from beginning to end. This includes interface with specific category teams and plant stakeholders.
  • Provide and align long-term material forecast to Corporate Category Team
  • Responsible for local supplier management including (e.g., pricing/payment terms and disputes), escalation and communication of supplier issues to Corporate Category Team and supplier on-time-delivery issues to Corporate Supplier Quality Team, as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • 5+ Years experience in Purchasing and Material Planning in a Production Environment
  • Leadership or Team Leading Experience
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and suppliers; fundamental mathematical and accounting skills.
  • Ability to make and keep commitments; realization of the results of commitments not kept on the organization; high energy, hard worker, gets things done and proactive.
  • SAP MM knowledge necessary
  • Knowledge of supplier management and procurement process
  • Experience in the execution of contracts and agreements
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical device manufacturing; broad working knowledge of manufacturing materials including plastics, polymers, injection molding, plastic extrusions, desired
