Baked, Not sprayed - Weighing the Pros and Cons of Baked-on Syringe Siliconization
Biologic drug products are particularly sensitive to interactions with packaging components. In prefilled glass syringes, the type of siliconization is critical, as free silicone droplets can compromise drug stability and safety. The baked-on siliconization of the Gx Elite Syringe Platform creates a uniform, firmly bonded silicone layer that releases significantly fewer particles. This minimizes the risk of protein aggregation, improves compatibility with sensitive molecules, and contributes to the long-term stability of biologics – while ensuring reliable syringe performance.

Gerresheimer’s Inbeneo® Autoinjector and AI-powered Connected add-on: Enhancing Patient Experience and Clinical Outcomes
Gerresheimer’s Inbeneo® autoinjector with its AI-powered Smart Connected add-on offers a breakthrough in self-injection therapy adherence. The reusable add-on provides real-time visual and audible guidance, automatically detects injection events, and uploads compliance data via cellular connectivity. This present great potential to reduce patient uncertainty and boosting confidence. Leveraging AI-driven two-way messaging through familiar platforms like WhatsApp, it engages patients throughout their therapy journey without requiring a separate app. Our preliminary results from useability evaluations and patient surveys (n=250) have proven the technology ease of use and the patient openness to new connected and smart devices, presenting excellent opportunities for positive impact on therapy adherence. Together, the Inbeneo autoinjector and the Smart add-on showcase how digitally connected drug delivery can empower patients, enhance user experience, and provide objective Real-World Evidence with the possibility of boosting compliance.

Optimizing Ethylene Oxide Sterilization: Sustainable Solutions for Pharmaceutical Packaging and Drug Delivery Devices
Ethylene oxide (EO) remains the sterilization method of choice for approximately 50% of all single-use medical devices worldwide, thanks to its excellent material compatibility and scalability. As the industry advances toward more sustainable practices, innovative optimization strategies are helping reduce EO use while maintaining required sterility assurance levels (SAL) to help ensure patient safety.
This presentation, featuring a successful collaboration between an EO sterilization provider and a leading manufacturer of drug delivery devices, will share practical insights and a real-world case study on advanced cycle design. Attendees will learn actionable best practices for achieving sustainability goals without compromising product quality or patient safety.
