External Assessment

Measuring progress through independent and transparent benchmarks

External sustainability ratings are important benchmarks for us. They provide independent recognition of our sustainability performance and enable customers and capital markets to assess and compare our environmental, social, and governance practices in a transparent and systematic way.

EcoVadis

Since 2011, we have used EcoVadis to transparently demonstrate our sustainability performance to customers and stakeholders. The rating assesses environmental performance, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable sourcing.

In 2025, we once again achieved a Gold rating, improving our score to 78 out of 100 points (2024: 76). This places Gerresheimer among the top 4% of all companies assessed globally and the top 1% within our industry.

This result reflects our holistic orientation and implementation success of our sustainability strategy.

CDP

Since 2011, we have actively participated in CDP, one of the world's leading platforms for environmental disclosure. We report annually on our climate strategy and management approach, systematically measuring, analyzing, and managing CO₂e emissions across all production sites.

In 2025, we achieved an “A-” rating on the CDP scale (which ranges from A to D), thereby attaining “Leadership” status.

Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

Gerresheimer joined the Science Based Targets initiative in 2023, and in 2025 our CO₂e reduction targets were officially approved.

Our targets are aligned with the Paris Agreement and the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 °C. They include a 52% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and a 64% reduction in the intensity of selected Scope 3 emissions by 2034.

ESG ratings

In addition to EcoVadis, CDP, and SBTi, our environmental, social, and governance performance is evaluated by independent ESG research and rating agencies. These include:

  • MSCI ESG Rating: AA (on a scale of AAA-CCC). We are in the top 30% of the industry.
  • Morningstar | Sustainalytics ESG Risk Score: 19.1 – low risk of material financial impact
  • ISS ESG Company Rating: C (on a scale of A+ to D-) with a high level of transparency. Our rating is above the industry average.
