External proof of our sustainability achievements

External sustainability ratings are important for us. They provide an independent acknowledgement of our efforts and achievements and help our customers and the capital markets to systematically assess and compare our environmental, social and governance-related business practices.
 

EcoVadis

In 2018 Gerresheimer succeeded in making the leap from bronze to silver rating with 46 out of 100 possible points and has further improved the Ecovadis score to 58 points in 2019. As part of implementing the Gerresheimer sustainability strategy, which was published end of 2020, the company now received once again a better evaluation. With 64 points Gerresheimer now belongs to the top 3% of companies assessed by EcoVadis in the comparative sector of pharmaceutical suppliers and medical technology. Our clear targe is to reach the gold level, which is awarded from 66 points onward as per the current scoring methodology.

CDP

We regularly publish the goals, strategies and outcomes of environmental protection initiatives and activities in connection with our participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), one of the world’s biggest initiative to reduce carbon emissions. Since 2008 we have been actively involved in the CDP. We measure, analyze and manage our CO2e emissions at all production locations, and report annually on their composition and any changes that have occurred as well as various measures adopted to reduce CO2e emissions. In the CDP Climate Change reporting 2020 we again achieved a B rating (on a scale of A - D-), which is above the average of our sector.

CSR ratings

Additionally, to our engagement with EcoVadis and CDP, independent ESG research and rating firms analyze our environmental, social and governance-related business practices in order to provide insights for institutional investors. In 2021, Gerresheimer received the following ratings:

• MSCI ESG Ratings Assessment: AA (on a scale of AAA-CCC)^*
• Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating: Score is 19,8, indicating that Gerresheimer is in the Low Risk category for experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors.
• ISS ESG Corporate Rating: C (on a scale of A+ to D-), with a decile rank relative to our industry group of 5.

In 2021, we were awarded the Sustainability Heroes Award 2021 by DQS and DGQ in the category "Sustainability Strategy". The jury explained its decision as follows: "Gerresheimer AG is honored for the way in which the topic of sustainability is holistically integrated into the corporate strategy and culture. The company promotes the sustainable development of the entire value chain with ambition and commitment. In doing so, the sustainability agenda considers not only the company itself but also the needs of customers, employees, the environment and civil society".
