External assessments - Sustainability and Gerresheimer

External proof of our sustainability achievements

External sustainability ratings are important for us. They provide an independent acknowledgement of our efforts and achievements and help our customers and the capital markets to systematically assess and compare our environmental, social and governance-related business practices.

Since 2011, we are using EcoVadis to provide transparency on our company's CSR performance to our customers and other stakeholders. The EcoVadis rating covers a wide range of non-financial management systems, including environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. In 2022, we made the leap from silver to gold status and, with 68 points out of a maximum possible 100, are thus now among the top 5 percent of all companies assessed by EcoVadis and even among the top 3 percent in the comparative industry of pharmaceutical suppliers and medical technology. This result reflects the holistic focus and implementation successes of our sustainability strategy.

We regularly publish the goals, strategies and outcomes of environmental protection initiatives and activities in connection with our participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), one of the world’s biggest initiative to reduce carbon emissions. Since 2008 we have been actively involved in the CDP. We measure, analyze and manage our CO2e emissions at all production locations, and report annually on their composition and any changes that have occurred as well as various measures adopted to reduce CO2e emissions. In the current CDP Climate Change reporting we achieved an A- rating (on a scale of A - D-), which is above the average of our sector.

In 2021, we were awarded the Sustainability Heroes Award 2021 by DQS and DGQ in the category "Sustainability Strategy".
