External assessments - Sustainability and Gerresheimer

External proof of our sustainability achievements

External sustainability ratings are important for us. They provide an independent acknowledgement of our efforts and achievements and help our customers and the capital markets to systematically assess and compare our environmental, social and governance-related business practices.

EcoVadis

Since 2011, we have been using EcoVadis to make our company's sustainability performance transparent to our customers and other stakeholders. The EcoVadis rating covers a wide range of non-financial information on a company's performance in the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable sourcing. In 2023, despite further increasing requirements, we again achieved Gold again and improved our result to 74 out of 100 points (2022: 68 out of 100 points). That places Gerresheimer not only among the best 5 % of all businesses assessed by EcoVadis, but also among the best 1 % in the industry.

This result reflects our holistic orientation and implementation success of our sustainability strategy.

CDP

Since 2011, we have been actively involved in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), one of the world's largest initiatives to reduce carbon emissions. In this context, we report annually on our climate strategy and management approach. We measure, analyze and manage our CO2 emissions at all production sites and report on the measures and progress made in reducing our CO2 emissions.

In 2023, we achieved a B on a scale of A to D in the CDP rating and thus "Management" status. This puts us above both the global average of all rated companies and the average for our industry, which is C in each case.

Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

Gerresheimer joined the Science Based Target Initiative in 2023. The SBTi provides a science-based framework for corporate climate protection target. The SBTi assesses whether our CO² reduction targets are in line with the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C by 2050, and will transparently document our progress on its platform.
