Quality Engineer

Job Description

This position is responsible for conducting performance improvement projects as specified by the business unit leadership. The Quality Engineer is directly accountable for the implementation and completion of projects that have direct and measurable impact on the revenue and expense of the organization. In addition to the specific projects to which the Quality Engineer is assigned, the Quality Engineer will also provide a major change force within the site to instill an overall culture of continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and develop corrective & preventive actions in regards to internal and external customer complaints.
  • Ensure effective corrective action on internal, customer and registration audit nonconformities are verified and effective.
  • Support and develop site GMP, GDP and 5S programs including leading team meetings and related continuous improvement activities.
  • New equipment and gauge validation.
  • Support the development of materials and works closely with Centor Supply Chain manager at the Perrysburg site.
  • Engagement with Centor’s technology and automation manager on product line, dimensional and drawing review of product offerings.
  • Lead and assist GPP cleanroom project and initiatives.
  • Conduct Six Sigma DMAIC, Lean Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) projects, lead teams to address process problems and design new processes to achieve results.
  • Provide a control plan upon project completion and ensures that a control plan is integrated into the appropriate SOP’s.
  • Ensure that training is completed upon implementation and affectivity of the SOP.
  • Facilitate problem solving and workout sessions to lead teams to address issues not requiring the formal DMAIC approach.
  • Conduct special data analysis projects as requested by management.
  • Identify opportunities for six-sigma projects and works in-conjunction with the plant’s lean master black belt, GMS and continuous improvement manager.
  • Facilitate project completion by recognizing and addressing organizational barriers.
  • Utilize Infinity QS or establishes statistical process control charts where applicable and trains process owners in their proper use.
  • Work with process owners and IT resources to make data available to process owners and for process improvement teams.
  • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams to enhance the quality of services/products.
  • Communicate frequently with customers and plant management and project champions regarding project status, issues and accomplishments.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Demonstrate behavior that meets Gerresheimer Management System (GMS) Standards.
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations and performs job in a safe manner.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of housekeeping & wears proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • A four year college degree, preferably in a technical field, is required.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Previous experience dealing with customers inside and outside of the facility.
  • Healthcare packaging experience is a plus.
  • Minitab experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge in plastic resins/materials and regulations a plus

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • CQE, CQA, CQM or other quality certification preferred
