Laboratory Technician

Job Description

Reports to the Glass Science Team Lead and is responsible for performing test and analyses in support of project work.  This position will need to be able to operate the various types of analytical equipment to perform the required tests successfully and appropriately.  This position will need to be able to organize the test data in a concise and accurate method so that it can be easily analyzed. 

  • Responsible for the operation of analytical test equipment (SEM-EDS / FTIR / ICP-MS).
  • Responsible for the appropriate preparation of materials to be tested.
  • Produce and maintain documentation for the appropriate operation of the analytical test equipment.
  • Compile and analyze data generated from analytical test equipment.
  • Maintain lab equipment based on defined maintenance schedule.
  • Assist in R&D experimentation
  • Supports GMS initiative through team participation
  • Observe all safety precautions, rules, and regulations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Laboratory Science
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience, experience should include hands on operation of SEM-EDS / FTIR microscopy / ICP-MS equipment
  • Additional UV-Vis spectrophotometer or Universal tester experience would be useful
  • Experience in problem solving and data analysis
  • Proficient with MS Office Products including a focus on Excel & PowerPoint
