Expert Payroll, Compensation and Benefits (m/f/d)

Job Description

As a member of the Human Resources team, this position will ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll; provide timely and accurate financial information; participate in daily data entry payroll processing; and be the subject matter expert in benefits offerings, enrollments, COBRA, and legal compliance. This position will also ensure optimization of the HRIS system.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Assess and process all pay changes and status reports.
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits (medical plan, vehicles, bonus, etc.).
  • Process correct garnishment / medical support order calculations and compliance.
  • Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
  • Process quarterly ex-pat payroll in coordination with tax advisors.
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.).
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting, as needed.
  • Process manual checks (as necessary).
  • Analyze HRIS system, monitor performance, and resolve issues.
  • Follow human resources procedures to administer benefits such as disability insurance, medical, life insurance, and COBRA.
  • Monitor and maintain various employee benefit programs. (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401k, and other benefit offerings.)
  • Prepare all other employee incentive/bonus programs.
  • Advise employees on an individual basis on the proper use of their benefits.
  • Guide employees through filing for deferred benefit claims.
  • Prepare seminars and in-services designed to inform employees of company benefits and other related incentive programs.
  • Conduct benefits enrollment meetings.
  • Assist in obtaining and evaluating statistics involving any benefits related program.
  • Attend workshops and seminars in order to become the subject matter expert on the various benefits offered by the company.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (required).  A.A. or B.A. and/or 4+ years of payroll, compensation/benefits experience (preferred).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred but not required.
  • 4-6 years experience processing multi-state payroll (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state state regulations.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel .
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems (for example:  ADP, Kronos, Paylocity, Paycom).
  • Strong working knowledge of benefits administration.
  • Strong work ethic and a team player.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material and information.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Skills in organizing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing.
