Benefits Specialist

Job Description

As a member of the Human Resources team, this position will ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s employee benefits, provide timely and accurate financial information; be the subject matter expert in benefit offerings, enrollments and legal compliance (COBRA, DOL and FMLA, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, administer, maintain and audit various employee benefit programs. (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401k, COBRA, FMLA, Disability and other benefit offerings.)
  • Assist employees on the proper use of their benefits.
  • Coordinate and assist in annual open enrollment.
  • Conduct benefit portion of new hire orientation.
  • Prepare and provide annual employee benefit statements.

Qualifications

  • Requires 5 - 7 years of working knowledge with benefits administration and working with Benefit providers.
  • Stay abreast of current US laws and regulations.
  • Experience with annual regulatory audits including 5500 filings.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state state regulations.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of benefits administration.
  • Strong work ethic and a team player.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material and information.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Skills in organizing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing.
