Industrial Mechanic Apprentice
"Know where you are and where you want to go. Make a plan. And then go there!"
With Gerresheimer since: 2008
When I graduated from high school in 2008 I was offered an apprenticeship as industrial mechanic at Gerresheimer.
I’d done an internship there previously, so I knew that I wanted to train as an industrial mechanic.
I think Gerresheimer is an attractive employer because it’s an international organization with a close and personal working atmosphere.
Everyone is very supportive and my colleagues in the department are always willing to help me. I’ve learned a lot already. My main responsibilities are the repair, assembly and maintenance of our machines.
One special highlight of my apprenticeship was the opportunity to be involved in an international project. When a tube cutting machine that we had built had to be installed at one of our plants in France I travelled over there and was able to see new departments and meet new colleagues.
I’m going to take my university entrance qualification exam again in summer 2012 so that I can study mechanical engineering.
Gerresheimer has opened a lot of doors for me during my apprenticeship and it’s supporting me in my plans to go to university.
