Mechatronics Fitter Apprentice
"Winners pick themselves up again at times when losers stay down."
With Gerresheimer since: 2011
When I passed my university entrance qualification I started a mechatronics fitter apprenticeship at Gerresheimer. I’d heard about the Gerresheimer Group because of its very positive image in the press. I was particularly impressed by the comprehensive range of different apprenticeships it offered so I did some research into the company and then applied for an apprenticeship position.
The company’s apprenticeship program gives me the opportunity to learn my profession properly. I’m also able to take part in courses such as a Computer Aided Design (CAD) course and various workshops that help me to develop my personal competences.
I work in the area of electro-pneumatics, which involves drawing construction plans and creating practical circuits and control units. I also wire installation circuits and hard wired controls, and program control unit memories.
All the apprentices get on very well with one another and we all help each other out.
I’m very optimistic about my future and I'm sure I'm going to pass my apprenticeship exams with flying colors. The company also offers its former apprentices full time positions when they have completed the apprenticeship program. If I want I can continue training as a technician or master craftsperson after my apprenticeship.
