Job Description

The Network Engineer/Network Administrator is a cross-functional position responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of systems hardware within the current server and network infrastructure. This position‘s main focus is to provide Service Desk Tier III function, work with Network Engineering and/or Manager of Infrastructure on projects and the maintenance of servers and network infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support. The individual is expected to respond to calls and emails as required to support the operation.
  • Manage and maintain network equipment including, but not limited to: SilverPeak SDWAN, Aruba wireless, switches and routers, Dell storage, switches, and servers.
  • Manage and maintain various operating systems and applications including, but not limited to, Windows Server 2019, VMWare vCenter 6 and up, Veeam Backup Suite 11, InfinityQS, Microsoft SQL, PRTG, Clearpass Aruba Central/Airwave.
  • Responsible for voice, network, server operations, and security.
  • Manage and maintain the Global Active Directory structure.
  • Participate in the Active Directory Audit and is responsible to remediate any and all open audit findings pertaining to Active Directory.
  • Work with Global IT to manage and maintain Azure domain as well as Microsoft Intune.
  • General “Service Desk” duties (resolve desktop installation/corruption/malfunction issues, e.g. as required)
  • Responsible for managing daily, weekly, and monthly commitments including customer Service Desk Requests, Global IT requests, strategic planning goals, performance review goals, and training for self- and team members.
  • Manage his/her own workload. Seeks prioritization from the Manager of Infrastructure for prioritization of the workload if needed.
  • Support multiple sites remotely with application, hardware, O365 and SAP connectivity issues and folder security issues.
  • Manage purchasing of all PC hardware and software for multiple sites
  • Evaluate and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software; provides technical consulting services to department/organization regarding use of computers and networks to satisfy business needs.
  • Manage inventory of IT hardware (Desktops/Laptops/Printers) and mobile devices. This includes contacting vendors for system replacement and repair of failed equipment.
  • Plan and lead implementation projects, including system specification. Report about the progress and provide information about possible obstacles and/or issues that would conflict with appropriate project progress.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for daily operations and disaster recovery
  • Perform and/or oversee software and application installation, and upgrades; maintain site licenses for department/organization.
  • Design forms and specifications for systems procedure improvements.
  • Analyze existing systems and redefine them to consider changes in system requirements or equipment configurations.
  • Perform server and network monitoring, as well as backups.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and supervise systems implementation.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to user staff and to programming and operations personnel.
  • Manage images for workstations and laptops via client management software.
  • Respond to user Service requests with PC questions and issues.
  • Enforce the Gerresheimer IT Best Practice standards, observes all safety rules and regulations and perform job in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network systems technologies, architectures, and products.
  • Assist the Network Engineer and/or Manager of Infrastructure on large/team projects.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Knowledge of available computing and/or network hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Ability to provide a range of systems training and/or support activities for users.
  • Ability to comply with change control management procedures.
  • Ability to fully document all systems using a variety of tools, including Microsoft Visio.
  • Ability to provide a range of systems training and/or support activities for users and other technical staff members.
  • Ability to clearly log/track all working time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years professional experience planning, implementing, and maintaining server and network infrastructure.
  • A.S. degree in Information Technology or a related field is a plus.
  • A+ and Network + preferred.
  • Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Technical hardware skills, client management solution experience is required (Microsoft Intune), experience in O365, MS Server 2008-2019, Active Directory, Hardware/Software setup for client and server, Backup software (Veeam Backup and Disaster Recovery) and experience with managed switches required.
