First career step for a new vintage

Wackersdorf, September 8, 2020: 12 apprentices and 3 dual students started their training at Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. The globally active pharmaceutics and healthcare specialist offers a comprehensive range of technical and commercial apprenticeships as well as dual courses of study in plastics technology, biomedical engineering and medical technology. With the new year a total of 45 apprentices and 14 dual students are now employed at Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH.

In times of the Corona pandemic, the start of training also gets a new look. Until now, the first day at the company was always filled with lectures and games to get to know each other. Now the training start is carried out in separate groups and is spread out over four days so that the rules of distance can be observed. After all, as a manufacturer of medical technology products Gerresheimer is a system-relevant company which must ensure the health of its employees at full capacity.

Accordingly, the first item on the agenda immediately after arrival was an information about the hygiene rules of the company and the division into two groups, which will go through the introduction program in parallel. The first three days of the introductory event took place at the Wackersdorf site. Here the trainees and dual students were first welcomed by Nicole Heimann (Head of Global Training Center, Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH, Wackersdorf), Annika Zach (Training Manager at Gerresheimer Regensburg GmbH, Wackersdorf) and the two trainers Jürgen Ertel and Franz Heininger. Ms Zach emphasized how welcome the new training year is at Gerresheimer. "We are continuing our training program unabated despite the corona crisis and are again very pleased to welcome new apprentices to our company this year. They are an important element in securing qualified skilled workers and are therefore also a central element of our corporate strategy".

The morning was followed by a tour of the Technical Competence Center (TCC) Wackersdorf, where product development and industrialization for the whole of Europe takes place. This was followed in the afternoon by a detailed presentation of the company and an introduction to the rules of cooperation at Gerresheimer. On the second and third days the apprentices and dual students then got to know their specific training places and the training center and were familiarized with the strict rules for entering the clean rooms. On the fourth and last day, a trip to the Pfreimd plant was on the agenda. There, both groups were given an insight into the processes of a large series production, got to know the works council and were informed about the trade union work in the sector by representatives of the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union.

Training positions are also available again for 2021. Applications are particularly sought after for technical training courses such as process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology and glass technology, tool mechanic for mold technology, industrialmechanic, electronics technician for industrial engineering or mechatronics technician. The application deadline is September 27, 2020.
